About Grenada-Beaches
My name is Neville, but you can call me Gooch. I live in the Washington DC area, but I was born and bred in Grenada. In fact it wasn't until I was 21 that I left Grenada for the US.
I still have strong ties to Grenada, lot's of family, and tons of friends who can keep me in the loop on what's hot or not.
Best of all I make it my duty to soak up some Grenada sun at least once or twice every year.
Why Grenada-Beaches?
I created the Grenada-Beaches site for two reasons. First, in 2005 I returned home for my first vacation in 7 years. I had a wonderful time, and rediscovered several things that I had forgotten about Grenada. Never wanting to forget those good times, I decided to create the Grenada-Beaches website.
Second, once I started building the website, and reliving those special moments, it crystallized how precious an island Grenada really is.
I've visited other Caribbean islands, and many of them have drawbacks: heavily commercialized, rising crime, and lacking Caribbean authenticity. Grenada is just the opposite --safe and modernizing-- but not at the expense of that "island" feeling you expect and love.
I knew there had to be smart travelers who:
- were tired of fighting for a spot on the beach,
- longing for what the word Caribbean used to deliver: a hassle free place to unwind and chill out with friendly people.
Grenada is still all those things, and the Grenada-Beaches website just plays a small part in connecting smart travelers like you with a smart destinaton like Grenada.
Two of us together
So it started out being all about me, but now it's about me and you (and Grenada of course). I'll continue to write about the good (and not so good) things about Grenada, and you get the pleasure and confidence of planning an enjoyable, authentic Caribbean vacation that only Grenada can deliver.
