You cruise to Grenada ... and now what do you do?
So your carribean cruise vacation is all set (or maybe not quite), and
it includes a cruise to Grenada... and natuarally you are wondering ...
what's there to do when I get to Grenada? Well, you are in luck.
This page will guide you to everything you need to know to
make this a fun and memorable Grenada cruise. And if you are undecided,
it will give you that little nudge you need to confidently book a
cruise to Grenada.
I grew up in Grenada looking at all the cruise ships enter the
harbour. In fact every ship that cruise to Grenada must pass directly
in front of my house, I see them all from my varandah.
Decide now ...
A caribbean cruise is a great way to get a taste of many islands in one
shot. But the down side is that this is all you will get - a taste.
Your ship will only be in port for a short time, most will certainly
not even overnight.
To maximize your experience you should know exactly what you
want to do when you cruise to Grenada. Even if you choose to just go
with the flow, and wander about the town, then decide that is what you
will do.
The worst thing you can do is get off the ship, and not have a
clue of what you want to do ... that can cost you precious fun, and
lead to a mediocre day. And we definitley do not what that, right?
You will be Safe
The first thing you should now is that you will feel safe in Grenada.
The island is very small, you won't get lost, and if you do take a
wrong turn the locals will happily get you back on track. I'm telling
you this to let you know that you can feel free to walk or drive about,
and explore on your own if you choose.
Ship Sponsored Tours ...
All the ships that cruise to Grenada have their own shore excursions.
That means that you can through them book tours to different sites, the
beaches, and other activities. If you are looking for convenience, or
just not the adventurous type, then this option is just for you.
You should know that when you book a ship sponsored shore
excursion you will have to settle for the lowest common denominator.
You will have to go along with the group ... that means maybe stopping
at places that holds no interest for you, and getting hustled through
places where you would like to stay longer and see more.
Your own tour ...
On the docks if you walk out a bit you will find many private taxis,
and vans. They are authorized by the torisim authorities, and there to
serve you. They are cheaper than the ship sponsored tours, and drivers
will take you where you want to go.
The drivers are knowledgeable about the island, so feel free
to solicit there advice in creating an interesting itinerary. However,
as I said before there is no substitute to knowing ahead of time, what
you want to do.
Where to go, and what to do?
Luckily for you I've already answered these two questions on this site.
With the answer to these questions in hand you can create your own
custom built itinerary. Once you have hand crafted your attraction
list, try these suggestions
- compare with your ship's shore excursion offers ... and
pick the one you like the best.
- Bring your attration list along, find a taxi and go roam
about the island ... the force is with you
OK, enough suspense ... make
your cruise to Grenada a blast with these fun attractions
