You may have been seeing those little orange RSS, or XML buttons around the Internet. How about smaller versions of this one on the left (the official rss feed icon)?
If you were wondering what they are... It's "the next big thing" -- you can use it to get news feeds from CNN or BBC, as well as just about anything else, including news on upcoming movies, DVD releases, your favorite musician's tour updates, Grenada-Beaches updates, etc
Once you get started, it's like having your favorite parts of the Web come to you. No need to go out and check for updates all the time. "RSS" means "Really Simple Syndication."
What it means to you is that when you subscribe to a site that has an RSS feed, you can keep up-to-date without having to check the site every day or week.
Get an RSS Reader - it's like having an email reader like Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, or Gmail. We call it an RSS feed reader. There are several free web based RSS feed readers around, and it's the best place to start.
I personally like Google Reader. Other popular web based feed readers include Bloglines and of course you can read rss feeds from your My MSN or My Yahoo.
Find feeds to subscribe - Once you have a feed reader account setup you are ready to start subscribing to RSS feeds. Look for buttons like those below on your favorite sites, and do one of the following:
