Enjoying A New Grenadian Tradition

Heard about the Gouyave fish friday and gave it a try. The road up to Gouyave was not very good, but the food and the atmosphere made up for it.

My sister-in-Law was intent on buying up all of the fried Jacks. The fried breadfruit was great also. The hit of the night was the snapper in tin foil. It was a meal to enjoy.

It was nice to see how well attended this event was. There was a mix of locals and tourist. It was very safe for anyone planning to attend.

Met the owner for Phare Bleu and he takes a boat up to Gouyave every Friday. He also has a great deal for locals on the weekends. Next time I am in town, I am going to try the boat route.

  1. Hi Lee- I was wondering..I am going to Grenada for the first time in May…and I am only going to be there for 4 nights…but on my list is the fish fry (I have done fish fry in St. Lucia and barbados and they are soooo fun!!)
Could you recommend a good place to stay while we (myself and a female friend 40 something) are there. I am looking for a samll hotel or self service unit…close to a beach and the nightlife…
    Many thanks Katrina

  2. Hi Lee,
I’m glad you got a chance to check out Fish Friday. It’s a must for me every time I’m in Grenada. It amazes me each time I see so many tourist moving freely around Gouyave having a good time. It’s a testament to Grenada’s reputation as an above average safe destination.

Thanks for the heads up on Le Phare Bleu boat excursion to Gouyave Fish Friday. That sounds like a good adventure… if my stomach can handle the boat ride after feasting on all that snapper, lambie(conch) and fry jacks.
